Julie: Soups and Liran thank you so much for joining us. I'm really excited to dive into this conversation this time We're going to be focusing more on the fraud angle of payments, which both of you have a lot of experience in. Why don't we start off with just some quick background? Soups, tell me a little bit about how you got started in, the fraud payments ecosystem.

Soups: Yeah, sure. Thanks. So I've been in industry for about 20 years now and working in a variety of different industries. Fighting bad actors pretty much my entire career started with fighting cyber security threats, working for a [00:03:00] company which is selling to large telcos. Then I went on to working in that tech fighting click fraud.

And bots and then over the last 10 plus years, I would say is when I've been fighting identity fraud, payment fraud et cetera, via stints at companies like Coinbase and Revolut, where I used to be heading fraud or heading financial crime and started Sardine a little over four years ago.

And Sardine is the best way of thinking about it. We are building Lego blocks for solving for fraud and compliance. And we work with about 300 plus companies worldwide broadly into segments. So that is financial services sector, which includes banks, neobanks fintechs. payment processes, etc.

And then the other sector is online commerce. So we work with large retailers, e commerce marketplaces, online websites, etc. Yeah, so that's a that's about it. I

Julie: I loved your initial intro. Like I've been in space for, about two [00:04:00] decades. Been fighting bad actors I forget exactly how you phrased it, but I was like, wait, that should be the top of your LinkedIn profile or something fighting bad actors for two decades plus

Liran, what about you? How did you initially get started in the fraud and payment space? And I know this is something that you're very very focused on at Team8.

Liran: Yeah, so I my intro into payments and fraud was starting a consumer fintech company called Debitize where we were leveraging ACH rails and bill payment rails so right into the fire, learned a lot fraud firsthand and having to adapt to it that way.

After Debitize, I joined Team8, we're a venture studio. So we build FinTech companies. We actually started in cyber. And so fraud to us is like a good intersection of FinTech and cyber. And somewhere where we think we can add a lot of value. So we've been spending a lot of time getting up to speed there.
